The Germans are coming… (hopefully!)

The German offices of Tourism Ireland organised a select and targeted “Sales Blitz” of leading Tour Operators and Event Management companies last week in the Munich Area, with just three representatives of the Irish Tourist Industry attending, along with one of the Tourism Ireland team. Our own Suzanne (who anyone that has ever booked a Conference or Team Building break in the BrookLodge will know) attended, along with Bernard from Joe O’Reilly Tours and Dymphy from The Dylan Hotel.  Tourism Ireland had made 25 appointments over the three days, and the feedback from everyone they met was fantastic.

Part of the presentation that Bernard gave was that, Ireland is on everyone’s “To Do” list and when people are looking at their holidays Ireland is frequently considered, but often his or her partner will opt for the sun holiday instead.  So, when they get the opportunity to attend a conference in Ireland, they jump at the chance!   This has often resulted in original numbers being increased all because of their dream of coming to Ireland!

Suzanne said on her return on Friday that “the promotional trip, though exhausting, was really inspiring as it showed the incredibly strong opinion that most Germans still have of the Irish and Ireland, and hopefully we’ll see this convert into increased visitors over the next year”. She went on to thank Aoife in Tourism Ireland “who was our driver and guide for the three days, bringing us from appointment to appointment – bless her, there is no way I would have been able to make my way around Munich at that speed without her.  She was the perfect hostess”

Suzanne also took this photograph of one of the offices where they had a meeting. Now that’s what we call an office block!
